Art Club enjoyed an afternoon of creating line art and listening to old time rock n' roll on September 23!
Care Club put their artistic talents and knowledge of good environmental practices to use and created entries for the Keep It Clean Kansas calendar contest! Mrs. Maleta, TE music teacher, was nominated by her peers at school, selected by the district, and then honored as a semi-finalist for elementary Kansas teacher of the year at a banquet on Sunday evening! She is the best and TE is so very lucky to have her! Back To School Night was a great success on August 26th. Parents attended sessions with student's teachers and heard what students will learn this school year. THS cheerleaders helped serve a hot dog dinner in the cafeteria. PTA had a table for sign-up and t-shirts and Mr. Attebery was at the WatchD.O.G.S. table! It was a great night for TE Cubs! Here is a preview of things you may see during Back To School/Curriculum Night on Tuesday, August 26th from 5-7 pm. There are many things the TE teachers are excited about. New 5th grade classrooms downstairs, new carpets, the new floors in the cafeteria, the artistic ways teachers decorate rooms but most of all they are excited about your students! Students enjoyed the last skating party of 2013 and received a free ornament for attending. The next skate party will Be Feb. 14th. Skate parties are held at SkateCity at 7838 Washington Ave. KC Wolf visited TE Thursday, 11-21, for Read To Succeed! 3rd grader, Damon, had the opportunity to dress up as KC Wolf! The staff at Turner Elementary have varied interests and hobbies they enjoy when not working with students. Para, Sharon Matthews, likes to spend her time outdoors camping and fishing. On a recent Saturday in October, Mrs. Matthews caught her biggest fish ever at Leavenworth State Fishing Lake. She is pictured here with her 7 lb., 19 in. large mouth bass! Quite a catch!
Congratulations to Cooper from Oak Grove and Kira from Turner Elementary on being crowned Little Miss and Mister Turner for 2013!
